MEALS ON WHEELS

The meals we deliver to our homebound clients are prepared from scratch by our staff in the York County Council on Aging's commercial kitchen, and are created in compliance with the 1/3 RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance) for seniors,

as set forth by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

The meals are a lifeline to a frail, home-bound senior who is no longer able to cook for themselves. These home-made, nutritious and delicious meals are delivered with a smile by one of our many dedicated volunteers.

In addition to offering a much-needed human encounter for a lonely home-bound senior,  each volunteer visit to the home means another set of eyes is checking up on the senior to be sure all is well.

Meals on Wheels can mean the difference between a senior continuing to live independently at home or going into a retirement or skilled-nursing facility. Adequate nutrition is a critical component of living independently.

If you or your senior loved one are in need of Meals on Wheels services, are 60 years of age or older, home-bound and live alone,   or if you'd like to volunteer, give us a call.
